September has been a month that shows exactly why having trusted guidance and a supportive community can change the course of breeding – for both dogs and their owners.

Celebrating Success in the Community
At the National Television Awards, Clarkson’s Farm won Best Factual Entertainment, and if you follow their story, you’ll know a litter of fox red Labradors has recently joined the cast. However, while celebrity littering captures headlines, it’s our own members who deserve recognition.

This month we raised a toast to Jill of Didgeri Doodles​www.didgeridoodles.com/lola-puppy-journey, who safely welcomed a large litter and documented the experience with honesty and positivity. Learning Together – Breeder Brief Recap

Our Breeder Brief this month tackled one of the most common sticking points: mating options. We explored the pros, cons and practicalities of:

• Natural Matings – when calm confidence makes all the difference
• Assisted Matings – useful but often misunderstood
• Artificial Insemination – a powerful tool when used with clear intent

With honesty and humour, we stripped away myths and pressure, reminding owners that there’s no “one right way.” What matters most is safety, consent, and timing. Members also received the Calm Mating Planner, a practical sheet to help put learning into action.

​Spotlight Session – Panic-Free Whelping Plans

Our Spotlight Session focused on Avoiding Due Date Disasters. Together we built the Delivery Day Diary, a three-part A–B–C plan that transforms anxiety into assurance.

• Plan A: Natural whelp – what a smooth delivery should look like
  
• Plan B: Elective C-section – when it’s best to plan ahead
  
• Plan C: Emergency C-section – how to act quickly and confidently
  

The message was simple: panic-free whelping is never down to luck. It comes from preparation, foresight, and having a plan that protects both dam and puppies.

What we’ve achieved this month isn’t just about new litters or new learning; it's about new beginnings. It’s about the reassurance members feel knowing they’re not walking this journey alone. As Marti put it so perfectly:

“I just appreciate you ladies so much. Honestly, I can’t — words are so insufficient. The difference that you’ve made in my life and my dog’s lives and my puppy’s lives… and I’m just starting as a breeder. It’s going to have an impact on generations of dogs.”

​That’s the real power of mentorship. It’s guidance that shapes generations, confidence that prevents panic and a community that celebrates success together.
